Big John’s Pond

.

Big John’s Pond was developed whilst living in New York City between the years 2000 to 2003. The work is a response to the Islands of New York, mainly the Islands sheltered between JFK airport to Breezy Point.

My experiences on the islands of New York needed more than direct rpresentation and this began the beginnings of my use digital photography and photoshop. I ventured into Photoshop to seek ways to go beyond direct representation and capture something closer to a felt sense of being in this world.

.

Out in the real world, we begin to be in touch with ourselves and with our experiences. As our perception gets clearer, we see what is happening in the moment as it happens, and we recognise it for what it is. We stop reacting from deeply buried, unconscious, emotional states that are rooted in the past. Being alive and aware in the flow of the present allows us to see that each moment offers fresh solutions, and the moment feels more stable.
